The course

Hole by hole

The holes in Aloha have their own name as a distinctive feature.

From the first hole “Tú tranquilo” (Take it easy) up to the eighteenth “Vistoso” (Panoramic view), we find the seventh “El Ruedo”, the twelfth “Cuidiau” or the seventeenth Obelix.

Javier Arana has been paid a well deserved tribute on the course by the mighty 10th hole taking after his name.

Buggies 90º

Hole nº 1: Tú tranquilo

Par 5 - Long with an out of bounds on the right and a water hazard on the left. The green is protected by a large bunker and depending on the pin position you may well have to fly the ball to reach the green.

Hole nº 2: Uresandi

Par 4 – Drive to the left of the fairway. You may even tee off with a 5 iron to make a good start. Fly the ball to reach the green.

This is considered one of the best 500 holes in the world by ‘Golf Magazine’.

Hole nº 3: Los Olivos

Short par 4 -  Drive to the left of the fairway over the first line of olive trees. Not a difficult green.

Hole nº 4: Cortavitarte

Par 3 – Players may use long irons to reach the back of the green.

Hole nº 5: La Fuente

A par 5 for catching up with your play. Long distance players may not use the drive and in case they do they may open the ball for the dogleg. The green has three pin positions, all of them difficult.

Hole nº 6: Prunus-Pisardi

Par 4 – The main problem on this hole is placing the drive or a long iron between the two bunkers that define the dogleg.

Hole nº 7: El Ruedo

Par 4 – Short hole that offers two possibilities: to play a drive trying to overpass the unevenness and reach the apron or to play a long iron or a 4 wood. This would allow using a wedge or a 9 iron to place the ball on a difficult and fast green.

Hole nº 8: Peñablanca

Par 3 – This is a hole without bunkers where the difficulty lies on the slope of the green.

Hole nº 9: El Jorobado

Par 4 – Out left-right. Drive to the left and if possible hit a long second shot to reach the green that is hidden by a bunker.

Hole nº 10: Javier Arana

A beautifully designed par 5. All shots to the right. The green is virtually hidden by two bunkers and very much influenced by the pin positions.

Hole nº 11: Las Aguilas

Par 4 – The second shot is uphill so you may play one or two more clubs than you think.

Hole nº 12: Cuidiao

Par 4 – This is an strategic and difficult hole. Out to the right and very difficult rough to the left. The second shot is downhill. The green is one of the easiest and is guarded by water and bunkers.

Hole nº 13: El Algarrobo

Par 3 – A very long and uphill hole with a two-level big green. Out to the right and to the left. Depending on the position of the pin you may use 2 more clubs for teeing off.

Hole nº 14: Curluchu

Par 4 – Dogleg to the right. Blind hole. Extremely difficult green without obstacles.

Hole nº 15: Camino Ronda

Par 4 – Light dogleg to the right. Big green with a large background with the risk of losing the ball to the left.

Hole nº 16: Cancionero

Par 5 – Dogleg to the left. A long hitter may reach the green in two shots, always flying the ball. Bunkers completely close the green, which is very difficult in all pin positions.

Hole nº 17: Obelix

Long par 3: 210m, 181m and 161m are the distances of the three tees. The green does not present much trouble and has a perfect design.

Hole nº 18: Vistoso

Par 4 – A fantastic hole back to the club house where the player can choose between a drive, with the risk of facing a big water hazard to the left, or a shorter iron eliminating such risk. The second shot will consequently vary enormously. You really have to consider the club you play and use one up or down depending on the pin position.
